Shake it Up

Okay, so life is sometimes a bit like a snow globe. You know the ones. They sit on a shelf for long times collecting dust, then one day, someone picks it up to dust it off and cannot resist them temptation to shake it up.
My favorite snow globes are the ones that have the wonderfully fine glitter in them. The microscopic reflections seem to bring everything to life.
A bit of ceramic surrounded by a glass globe...
When it sits on the shelf, it is similar to a photograph. It is a snapshot of life.
Like life, it really is not at it's best when things are still and calm. Yes, snow globes are pretty on the shelf. They often have a little scene that is beautiful all on it's own.
I have only had one snow globe. I moved a lot growing up, so the souvenirs I purchased were rarely breakable. It is better to have the doll made entirely from lace travel with me for 35 years than the distant memory of the crystal bell. I learned to make those decisions at a very early age after unpacking a broken glass clown.
That one snow globe had a Victorian Christmas scene and it also played music.
    Sigh.
It was broken in a tragic Christmas garland incident a few years ago.
They are heavy. They are beautiful. They are at their best when shaken up a little. They are fragile and can be destroyed easily.
Snow globes are not so different from lives.
We are all unique and beautiful. We are more amazing when a little glitter is added.
Right now, even though I am waiting for everything to settle. I am waiting for it to appear as if my snow globe is a snapshot.
Already in the back of my mind, I am thinking we need to add a little more glitter and shake things up.
